Where are the Chinese ladies?

OK, so I'll admit it, there aren't a whole bunch of Chinese ladies on Asian Love Connections.

In fact, I don't think there are any at all! There are a few female and ladyboy members who are living in China, but you'll find they're often Filipino and not Chinese.

So what's the deal?

Well I did advertise Asian Love Connections in China. I even made a Chinese language version of the site. But I couldn't get any Chinese ladies to join the site.

As a guy who is searching for his own Chinese wife, well this makes me a little sad.

So what are the reasons for the lack of Chinese ladies?

Generally speaking, there's a man shortage in China, so Chinese women don't usually have any particular problems finding husbands in their own country. Beyond this though, I'm not sure why so few Chinese ladies have joined the site - we have women here from other countries including the Philippines, Vietnam and Thailand.

It is also generally a bit more difficult to find a Chinese wife, and it's also more expensive to find a Chinese wife.

Thailand or the Philippines are good alternatives to China, maybe Vietnam also.

But if you do want to find a Chinese girlfriend or wife, then I've had a lot of success on Chinese Love Links and China Love Match :P .

I think its just a matter of Chinese women don't seem to be willing to do what it takes to find a good man. They don't try very hard. They don't like to "put themselves out there" if you may. Especially the older ones, 30 to 40. Do they just accept the fact that they will not find anyone?? Maybe has alot to do with the concept of "saving face" in China. I really hate this common practice in China. I have been living and working in China for four years. I am looking for a good woman, but it has proved to be very challenging and difficult. I do meet plenty of not so good women such as Gold Diggers. Or, just plain not very good looking. I am now in a very popular city in the south with a high pop of expat men. This makes it even more difficult. I had better luck in a previous city with not many expat men. But, I just like this city too much to leave.

Thanks Amboy - welcome to the forum!

I guess I'm surprised you can't find women to date - all I know is that I was gigantically popular in Guangzhou. I'm pretty average looking, but I managed to find dates the same afternoon through Chinese Love Links.

I don't know if online dating is the best approach though. I know there are huge numbers of Chinese women who want Western husbands, but don't know how to find one. My last gf and I went round some shops in Foshan, and a load of the shop assistants wanted Western husbands! So my plan is to move to China and get networking.

Gold diggers are quite common in China, but they're pretty easy to spot by their good clothes and urge to spend all your cash.

You don't say which city you're in, but I think in general many of the more Easterly cities have gotten too rich and the women too spoilt. I noticed this in Shanghai, and I know a lot of Western guys who haven't had much success in Hangzhou and other properous cities.

Guangzhou is great because it's full of single women who have migrated from Hunan and Hubei. Hunan girls seem to be a great match for Western men, I've lost count of the number of Western guys I know who have married Hunan girls.

The Chengdu/Changsha/Wuhan triangle is also well worth visiting. I visited Wuhan and Yichang and the women in that part of China were just awesome. Even better is that there aren't any Westerners to speak of.

Anyway, good luck out there living the dream  !

Chinese tend to act as a group - they follow the masses, so if one website gains traction, the rest will follow, which explains why most follow a few websites.

If you are keen on Chinese girls, do get QQ [its like Skype] and it has a dating component.

Things to keep in mind.

Few have good English skills in speaking and writing.

While the ratio of men to women favors women, FEW men measure up to the expectation of the women. The women DEMAND security; good job, house, stability. Appearance is secondary - a stroll in the park and observing the wedding photos being taken - very attractive women are engaged to rather plain or ugly guys - the reason is money.

Do watch for those only interested in getting a visa.

Between the ages of 21 and 29 are the premium years, as a girl gets closer to 30, the greater the need to marry. After 30, in mainland China, it is difficult for a woman to find a husband. If she is over 30 then perhaps she is 'damaged goods' [but also perhaps because she was very much focused on her career].

Divorce is easy in China, so you find find more divorced women over 35 looking for a [second] husband. Chinese men will not marry a woman with a child.

Do NOT expect to find a girl much younger than yourself - a ten year age difference would be the maximum.

One thing most Chinese do not like is fat guys - if you are over-weight then go to the gym first.

Do expect that her expectations will be for a good life-style, and a house.

Most want to travel - guess who will pay for that? Can you afford vacations in Europe?

Bringing her back to the West; consider the language barrier - it will take her a year or two to gain some fluency. Chinese university education is a joke - a Chinese university degree is worthless - in China, no-one ever fails - university is the time for parties, KTV, shopping, and having a good time. Food will be a problem - few Chinese like Western cuisine. Mainland Chinese have very odd notions - it will take some time and effort to get her thinking in Western terms.

Chinese women can be very demanding. They love to bitch and nag. If you are not making ever more money and providing a life-style she expects then be prepared for an ongoing life of hell.

Another option - besides Chinese women - which I have not seen mentioned here, is Korean women!

They are very similar in physical appearance but with some key differences in behavior and expectations.

I'd say that Korean women, compared to Chinese women are;

- less materialistic

- more accepting of the West - Korea has had more exposure to Americans - thanks to the Korean War and American military presence. And they have been shifting to Western patterns since the 1960's whereas [mainland] China only started in the mid 1980's. Moreover there has been longer and un-censored access to Western culture.

- more adventurous in the bedroom

- less likely to be close-minded. A good many Chinese kids are brought-up by their grand-parents [with 18th century thinking], whereas in Korea more kids are brought up by their parents

- more contemporary, as most Koreans grow up in a city

- less tolerant of Korean men! A good many Korean men are harshly conservative, dominating, and un-romantic
